Court Sentences Popular Hotelier Ramon Adedoyin To Death By Hanging Over Murder of OAU Student
A tragic incident shook the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) community when Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student, was found dead in November 2021 at the Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife, Osun State. The hotel's owner, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.

The case drew widespread attention due to its shocking nature and the prominence of the accused. Dr. Adedoyin, a well-known hotelier and founder of Oduduwa University, was facing 18 counts of conspiracy, murder, felony, indecent interference with a corpse, alteration, and cancellation of receipt, and oath-taking to prevent justice. Six of his workers were also charged alongside him.

After a thorough investigation and trial, the Osun State High Court delivered its verdict. Justice Oyebola Ojo, the Chief Judge of Osun State, sentenced Dr. Adedoyin to death by hanging, ruling that the circumstantial evidence presented in court pointed to his guilt. Two of his workers were also found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful killing.
